2009 Summer Newsletter

In an effort to raise breast cancer awareness Level 8 Regionals was a pink meet.  Gift baskets and equipment were raffled and $1,000.00 was raised for Susan G. Komen organization.  All State Team competitors wore leotards with the breast cancer pink ribbon. 

Thank you to each of you who assembled baskets and  bought raffle tickets.  The Region 8 Committee considers the event a great success and hopes to expand the idea for next year.  Give your suggestions to your state chairman or any regional chairman.

Region 8 Committee was pleased with the response to Level 7 Invitational Regionals.  There were 128 athletes who competed for their state.  North Carolina swept both team titles.  Find complete results on the Region 8 Web page under links and results.  Please give your state chairman or any regional chairman your suggestions for next year.

Region 8 would like to thank The Master’s School of Gymnastics for hosting Level 9 & 10 Regionals at Vanderbilt University.  We appreciate you going all out for our athletes!

Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta did a wonderful job hosting Level 7 invitational Regional and Level 8 Regionals.  Due to problems with initial site, GAA Booster’s club had to use two different sites for this competition.  Great job everyone.

Level 8 Regionals was a “pink meet”.  Region 8 sent a $1,000.00 donation to Susan B Komen from monies raised at Level 8 Regionals.  We plan to continue this theme for Level 7 & 8 Regionals for 2010 and hope to raise more funds.
